CLASS TIME

Started a class in blueprint reading at work.  The original estimate was that it would take 7 - 10 day.  The group of us are maybe a notch above the norm.  At the rate we're going, we might be done with it in 5 days.

Now, to be fair, most of us have had similar classes before for our job.  And at one time, years ago, I taught the class.  So, at least for me, it is a refresher course to keep me up to date with changes that have been made.  And there have been a few, let me tell you.

I'm enjoying myself even if I have to stay a few hours over every day.  It's worth it.

Learning happens.

LET THE O.T. BEGIN

We start overtime again at work this week.  There is going to be a big conversion to the computer system and they have to shut the whole thing down for a couple days.  So to prepare for the lack of output, we have to build up our stores ahead of time.

I expect to put in some long hours after the conversion as well to make up for any deficit we encounter during the shutdown.

Oh, joy.

Overtime happens.

YOU JUST CAN'T MAKE ANYONE HAPPY

I am Nostradamus.  I have the crystal ball to tell me all that is going to happen.

Just ask them at work, they'll tell you.  Or, I should say, they'll accuse me.  I know everything.  And it is MY fault when they screw up.

Tonight, I caught one of the cells I check, making a mistake.  It involved me taking a number of their product out of service until an engineer can make a call on it.  *try finding an engineer at 'what time of night is it?' to take a call and give an answer*

OK, I'M BACK

Work has been a treat lately.  Aside from the different shift that is.  We have had some changes in policy and procedures that we are trying to get used to.  Mostly, how we code things and what we call them.

What used to be "not that bad", now has a title that means "not that good, but not terrible either".  So, we are all getting used to the new system.  It is, to an outsider, a lot like watching the "Key-stoned Kops", or a routine by the "Marks Brothers".  A bunch of us running around and having ridiculous dialog, like this...

I AIN'T DEAD YET...

though it is getting harder to convince myself.  I believe they are trying to do me in.  In the short version, got locked up with three cells this week to do checks on.  Not a bad number.

However, one group of product, I haven't looked at in over 4 years.  The other, I have had a whooping total of 10 hours exposure to previously.  And I am there as the expert to check them out.  Neither cell is a simple product either.

Lets just say there has been some stress involved.

NOW, ABOUT LAST WEEK...

I said I would share about how my first week went on the new job.  So here it is.  Hope you are ready to be bored.  Well, maybe amused at times.  Depends how your sense of humor goes.

IT IS OFFICIAL

I go to second shift starting Monday.  I know my new boss is thrilled to hear about this.  He has been running short staffed on 2nd for over 3 months now.  And one of the replacements he picked up earlier this year, walked out one night and never came back.

SHIFT CHANGE UPDATE

Well, I got notified that I got the job I mentioned here.  Now all I have to do is wait for my replacement to be found and trained.  Once that is done, then I get moved and get a refresher course for the new job.

I've done it before but that was a while back.  Stuff has changed and I need to be brought back up to speed.  Shouldn't take too long though.

POSSIBLE SHIFT CHANGE COMING ON

I could be changing shifts soon.  I am looking at a new position.

BACK ON THE "OT"

Yeah, it didn't last long.  We go back on overtime Monday.  Other than the fact I think they were optimistic, apparently there were parts issues as well.

Oh,well.  We'll see how long it lasts.
