With the soon to be entrance of NG2, the topic of names came up. CK and Chew already decided on a first name, "X". We shared this with some family members months back. One of my sisters was quick to point out a tendency...
almost every member of the family with that name has been a problem type child: health, attitude,...basically, a handful. Not that anyone objected to the name, just kind of a odd occurrence noted.
Ck told us the other day, my sister called her. They talked for a while and my sister mentioned the issues with the name and asked whether they had a middle name chosen yet. CK told her no, not yet. So my sister jokingly told her to consider "Y".
CK: "'Y'? Is there a reason?"
Sister: "Yeah. Maybe they'll offset and cancel each other out."
CK: "In what way?"
S: "Well, as I mentioned, "X" has kind of a bad reputation in the family. So, "Y" should take care of that. After all, "Y" is the patron saint for the hopeless. Can't hurt."
CK and my sister laughed at the absurdity and irony of the idea.
When CK told us, we all had to catch our breath after we finished laughing. Only my sister. Gotta love a family that goes for the laugh.
Dry humor happens.
There is at least one "X" in the family who has not been considered to have been a problem child; so, I doubt it's the name. (But, you knew that!)
