Hello? Hello? Are you there?
ARGHH!! Silly phones.
Over the last several months we've had a problem with our phones giving out after only 10 - 15 minutes. They are old and the batteries aren't what they should be any more. So we went out looking for some replacements.
Seems the last time any of the consumer groups did a check up on phones, it was several generations ago. So for the most part, it was Caveat Emptor...let the buyer beware. Still, the old reports showed a trend and we followed the path of least irritation.
To accommodate the needs (if you want to call them that) of the house, we chose a brand that allowed for the number of phones we felt would give usthe most flexibility. We also changed our requirements from the last time; having a clock on the phone face, not that critical, amongst other things.
Now, we are back up and running with phones that will last long enough to allow for a conversation. We also covered more territory inside the house for phone placement. All for about the same cost as buying replacement batteries for our old system.
Conversations happen.
what was that? did you say something?!

I gave up on those fancy phones years ago and went back to my corded Sony. Even worked when there was a power outage. But after I moved to rural US, the phone company couldn't keep the buzzing off the line. So, I no longer have a "land" line - only my cell.
