Remember when I mentioned I had to get a new battery here? I forgot to say, that was the original battery. Last time it was in the shop, the charging system was checked and the battery was just fine. Apparently, when they go, they go.
But...
when I was in the shop getting it replaced, our mechanic asked me what tires I wanted. We had talked about tires for the truck a couple weeks back when Dudette's car was getting a new battery. I told him I hadn't gotten around to checking out tires yet, but would call him back later in the day. And I did. After driving around in the nasty weather, it was obvious they needed replaced. Even though it "looked" like they had plenty of tread left, they didn't handle like they any tread left.
So, today I got new tires. The old ones were more an "Off Road" style, and the new ones are "all weather". Drives WAY different. Nice, but WAY different. Almost like driving a car instead of a truck. And the new ones were rated a lot better than the old ones. I was also amazed at how much more tread the new ones have. Not that the they came with any more tread, just the old ones were worn down that much.
We'll see how they work next time the weather gets nasty.
Wear happens.
It is sometimes hard to find the exact right tire for your vehicle - what works great for one, doesn't work for cr*p on another. Glad you seem to have found some that work for your truck. Hope the tires treat you well and keep you safe on the slippery roads.
