CK's car needs some work, so Dudette let her borrow her car in the meantime. And since I am off work, I get to play "driver". Not a bad gig if you can get it.
However, we got snow yesterday. And a bunch of errands needed run, so I headed out after dropping Dudette off at work. When I got to the bank (after several stops), there was a sign in the driver-thru saying it was closed due to water damage. I thought, snow and ice must have leaked into the tube system. So I parked, and went to walk in.
Newp, the WHOLE bank was closed due to the water damage. Next nearest one was a couple miles away. FINE...I'll go there.
Then again....maybe not. When I got back to the truck, it wouldn't start. And not just the "barely cranking" not starting. I had nothing. No lights,no little "dinger" warning sounds...nuttin'.
The weather was less than good for being stuck; snow and ice on the ground, cold, windy. Walk in the park. Though I think it's easier to find someone to jump-start a walk, than an ice-cold truck.
One of the dozen people I approached for a jump (I even had my own cables), did come back by after initially telling me she didn't have time (on a schedule with work...fair enough). She got me going, wished me a Happy Holiday's, then took off. She didn't even hang around long enough for me to thank her. But I do.
I called the shop and they got me in and out right away. Good thing too, they had 2 out of 3 vehicles in there. Charging system fine, battery DEAD.
Back on the road, to the bank, and all the other places. But at least the truck will start. And I'm warm.
Kind people happen.
