Final approval came through on some training. I will be traveling to the Great Lakes region soon.
Myself and a coworker are going for on-site training on some equipment we have and (would like to use) need at work. When the equipment first came in, a fair sized group got trained on it. Since then, it saw little to no use. And that old phrase "use it, or lose it" came to rear its ugly head. To be fair though, it has been several YEARS since the initial training of the group. And with the scant use of the equipment, most of the group can't even remember how to turn it on, let alone use it.
However, the new people in charge want it used. A LOT. It would cut time spent on projects to single digit percentages of what is currently used. So the two of us are headed out of town for training. And when we get back, we are to impart our wisdom upon the rest.
I'm sure making them "relearn" this equipment will get both of us knocked off the Christmas card list. Some are already grumpy that "we" get to go out of town to be trained. Been through this stuff before, and they just don't get the fact that this is not a vacation. Besides, how much sightseeing can you do late at night around the Great Lakes this time of year? Guess I'm going to find out.
Training happens.
Chicago? Winter? YUCK! Have fun.
