contradictory.
Dudette took me to the clinic yesterday to get my neck looked at.
I couldn't trust myself with driving since I had almost no motion to the right and every single jar to the body caused the muscles to spasm. Having said that, let me say that the trip was not the most pleasant I've been on. Dudette did the best she could finding the more smooth roads in and out. Still...not fun.
I figured out quickly enough, that if I leaned forward a bit and worked the seat like I was on a saddle, horse riding, I could ride through the trouble spots fairly well. It was still a painful ride. (she tried hard and apologized a lot, though there was nothing she could do about cruddy roads and stupid drivers)
The doc saw me and prescribed some muscle relaxers. After I got home, I took one and within two hours, I was shot. I couldn't keep my eyes open to save my life. Took a 3 hour nap in the recliner. I was a bit foggy minded for a while after I got up as well. I attribute that to the fact that I hadn't gotten much sleep or rest the night before.
And, have you ever read the "cautionary" paperwork that comes with meds? This stuff has so many contraditory warnings, it is weird. This product could cause diarhea/constipation; anxiousness, nervousness/ drowsiness, fatigue, to name a few. Then after warning you that the stuff can knock you on your keester, it turns around and says to notify your doc IMMEDIATELY if you suffer from confusion, fainting, speech or vision problems.
Well DUH!! The stuff knocks you for a loop and of course you are going to suffer from confusion and trouble with speech and vision. That's kind of like telling a person that drinking a bottle of tequila might affect your ability to pick up a pretty/handsome woman/man at a bar. Kind of goes without saying. Ya think?
And the Doc released me to go back to work today. Under the potential effects of the drugs. Maybe if I worked in a "cube farm" and the most dangerous thing I had to do was use correction fluid to fix a typo. But in an environment where I need to lift heavy object, rotate and inspect them, while standing on my head (have to bend over a lot to check things), with forklifts whizzing past me, I think not.
Today, I am feeling and moving a bit better. Range of motion has noticeably increased before I hit a "twinge" zone. And I'm not getting the spasms like I was.
And again, the doc seemed to think I would be able to make it to work today. He was wrong. Despite the improvements, I am not up to the physical demands my job requires. Maybe tomorrow, but not today. And to be safe, I already called in and scheduled another vacation day if I need it.
Just have to wait and see.
Pain happens.
Oh, ugh. Neck pain is the worst! I think you were right to take an extra day off. A stitch in time, as the saying goes....

I've had something similar, and it's no fun. Hope you get back to normal soon!
