Dudette was reading the paper tonight. And after looking at some of the headlines and reading the related stories, she shook her head and shared her thoughts with me.
Having scanned the headlines myself, I could only imagine what she would share. I mean, things like, "After 20 votes, with no discussion, council still deadlocked over vote." (Really!?)
Or, a lawsuit over a pair of pants. How valuable can a pair of pants be? Apparently quite valuable. To the tune (if the suit is won) of double digit MILLIONS of $. (you can read about it in the local papers, it made national news.)
And, how about a star witness, hired by the opposing side in a lawsuit, declares the person they are looking at is guilty as sin. And does it publicly, before turning in his "opinion" to the courts. And even releases confidential information that they were given to perform this review, during the process. (this is an expert witness? paid for by the opposition? WHO let them into the proceedings)
I digress. This is about Dudette.
She looked at me and said that the people from SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) are going to be hard pressed to find any intelligent life. With the stupid things going on right here and now, where is their baseline? What can they use as a guide for them to even realize what might constitute "Intelligence"?
I think Dudette may be right. Where ARE the baselines? Maybe they should turn those stellar dishes around and start the search here. It has often been said to look within before venturing outward.
My guess is, there is intelligent life out there. And having looked upon us, they are doing the smart thing and staying hidden. That right there, proves they are intelligent.
Something happens. (just not too sure what)
