(William Tell's overture plays in the background) The person Dudette interviewed over the last couple weeks for a position, called her today.
She didn't sound good.
And after Dudette's heart (and stomach) sank at the sound of this persons tone, she got some really good news (for both of them).
Dudette let this person know that they could start as soon as they wanted. They, (of course, being professional), said they would give two weeks notice and could start on the 18th. Ok, fine. That works.
But when they called today, it sounded like they were going to drop some bad news. Like they weren't coming on board.
Instead, they let Dudette know that they would be available starting Monday.
Apparently, after four days of letting this person continue with their job duties, they walked in on Friday and found themselves locked out of all the computer systems, their office and their e-mail. To add to the insult of letting them work four days after they turned in their notice before unceremoniously shutting everything down on them, the people they worked for told them they could keep working for the remainder of their time. Filing. As in, putting paper in cabinets.
Imagine the shock of being allowed to work after turning in your notice, then walking in one day, almost a week later, and finding that neither your key, nor your log-in works any more. "Oh, yeah. We forgot to tell you....But you can stay and do filing."
They left right after that news, that's why they sounded so badly. A bit in shock over the whole treatment.
Don't ya love some employers? Let a person work that long, then blind-side them. Classy.
Anyway, Dudette's new help starts Monday. Which is good because her assistant is still out.
Luck (and low-rent employers) happens.
their loss and dudette's gain :-)

Good thing they bailed - no telling when the old firm would have started treating the employee badly for some other reason. Sad state of affairs.
