Earlier this week, CK's car started acting up. She dropped it off at the shop only to find out she has a main bearing going out on her car. The prospects and cost of replacing the engine are not good. As in, "fugedaboutit".
Therefore,
she is borrowing Dudette's car till we work out all options. In the meantime, Dudette is carpooling with me to and from work.
One of the questions raised was, our mechanic checked out the car about a month ago and found nothing wrong. How was this bearing missed?
Simple answer: stuff breaks.
Wouldn't it be nice if all parts of a car, home appliance, piece of lawn equipment, or the equipment at work...whatever, had a gauge on, or for, it that read like the gas gauge, or oil pressure gauge, or alternator gauge? Let you know when it was getting weak and wobbly before it croaks altogether and causes irreparable damage.
That would be sweet, wouldn't it?
Cars and a lot of appliances are getting smarter, with more informative warnings and read outs. Still, stuff breaks. Can't be helped or avoided.
Stuff breaks, and still pisses you off.
Stuff breaking happens.
I feel your pain!
