though not quite in, have a development. I was mistaken about the coating of the pole holding up the feeder. The co-worker's plan was to coat the "feeder dome" over the feeder, and the chain holding the thing to the pole.
At best guess, the stuff must be working in some fashion. Apparently the squirrel was having issues getting a grip and moved to a different tactic. It seems the rodent is now trying to jump from a tree branch (the feeder is close to a tree) and land on the feeder itself. But apparently, the branches that low are too flimsy to support the launching push of the squirrel. He gives push and the branch bends, absorbing the thrust, allowing no real launch power. The rodent then falls gracelessly to the ground only to run up and try again.
I'd still love to see that happening. Gotta be worth the cost of admission.
Critters happen.
Too bad you can't post a video of this one! I have an image in my head and it's pretty funny too.

I must admit, I was asking myself why they didn't put a dome on it. Jeeze, gues they were smarter tahn I gave them credit for!
Squirrels are very resourcefull. I wouldn't doubt if it figures out something pretty soon.
