Dudette picked up some ground beef for meatloaf the other day. Normally I make the meatloaf. Not that she can't, mind you.
About the only difference is, mine stays firm and is easy to cut. And for left overs, it slices up very nicely for sandwiches. Hers for some reason, ends up crumbly. Tastes great, just crumbly.
She's watched me make it my way and tried to duplicate it. Comes out the same...crumbly. So, she lets me make it.
Tonight though, she decided to make it, (guess she got tired of waiting on me though I planned on doing it tomorrow night) to give me a break.
I helped in the kitchen (I stayed out of her road) and set the table. She was gracious enough (put up with my presence) to allow me to hang around and offer any advice (whine and nag at her) in the making of it (she hates to hear me complain).
All looked well. A lot of chopped onions (love those) and crackers (I don't know why...I use breadcrumbs). Then she did something different that caught my attention (scared the hell out of me), she used Bogie's picante sauce in the mix.
The meatloaf came out very good. And it was firm. It also had a bit of zing to it, nothing overboard, just a hint (somebody get me a fire extinguisher).
It really turned out very good. It will be gone in no time. Great for sandwiches.
Along with the meal, we had broccoli in cheese sauce and toast. With a nice red wine. And don't tell me red wine doesn't go with meatloaf. It tasted yummy.
Dinners happen.
Glad the meatloaf came out good - now I can take the credit even though I didn't do a darned thing (come to think of it, I didn't get any meatloaf either - please don't send me any either).

We cook the same way, here. Dear Husband tends to pay more attention to his cooking. I'm more distracted. I'm better at shaping hamburgers and meatloaves, he's more adventurous when it comes to ingredients. The two of us together create some pretty decent meals. *S*
He would have loved the sauce in the meatloaf! We both would have enjoyed the red wine.
