Ck and Chew stopped by the other night. CK walked in carrying the oil filler neck to her car.
Yeah, not the cap, but the whole neck.
She needed to put oil in her car, and while trying to take the cap off, she took the neck off.
Now that is a new one on me. To her defense though, after looking at the whole assembly, I could see how this could happen.
On most cars, the oil filler cap unscrews all the way. Hers however, unscrews to a "stop", then you pull it "up" the rest of the way. And the neck of the filler works close to the same way. Only difference to the neck is, it has a "lock tab" that is supposed to prevent it from being unscrewed accidentally.
Should I mention that the lock tab didn't work so well. If you keep trying to unscrew the cap, you WILL eventually get the neck to follow.
As I say at work, we are SOOOOO good, we design our defects right in.
It's fixed though. The oil is in. The kid is on the road. OK, two out of three isn't bad.
Repairs happen.
