The truck, on and off for a while, has been doing this weird thing. When it had been raining out, the belt started squealing. Then, for a while, even if it just got foggy, or even very humid, it squealed.
During the snows we had recently, it went for front and center stage at Madison Square. It got to the point where even after sitting overnight it howled when I started it up. I had enough. I called the shop (it is out of warranty of course) and scheduled to bring it in.
They told me to bring a book as they could take care of it while I waited. Cool. I wasn't going to have to hitch a ride while it was tied up in the shop.
It took almost 2 hours to get it handled. When they got the belt off, they found my tensioner wasn't guiding the belt properly. The spring on it collapsed and the pulley was floating. (I noticed the upper pulley had some uneven wear marks, but didn't put the two together.) The mechanic told me about the wear marks and it all made sense. The upper pulley is just fine, but the tensioner was shot.
Now it drives and sounds a lot better.

Dudette is short a person at work. Her work load has increased until she can get a replacement. It hasn't impacted her as badly as she thought it would, but it still an additional burden. She hopes to have a new person on staff in the next couple weeks. In the meantime, her part time help has moved in full time. So, that is a big help.

My hours at work are changing back to normal hours. That is the good news.
The bad news is that puts me home an hour later than I am used to. Of course, I also get to sleep in an hour later. What a toss up.
Little happens.
