5 MINUTE FIASCO

Ever have one of those days.....?

I did.  All within 5 minutes.

HOME MADE BAGELS

I will post the recipe for the cake later.  In the meantime, I have to mention Dudette found a recipe for making bagels.  It all started because I picked up a bagel at the grocery store yesterday.  A "Gourmet" bagel.

Names can be misleading.  The bagel was nasty.  More like a bread cake.

So, she found a recipe.  And, she made bagels.  Not too bad.  She is still going to play with the recipe a bit.  The crust on the bagels come out very hard and crunchy.  But they were good.

Cooking happens.

GOOD CAKE

The cake Dudette made was pretty good.  Good enough, we invited CK and Chew over to help us eat it.

They came over and we had cake, worked some puzzles in the newspaper, listened to some music and watched some TV.  Nice relaxing evening.

And the Vanille Royale, very yummy in coffee.

Nice nights happen.

COULD BE A PRETTY GOOD NIGHT

Dudette is making a cake.  The recipe is from the newspaper, Dark Chocolate Mocha Cake.  Looks and sounds good.  If so, I will probably put the recipe up.  Believe that.

CW McCall is keeping us company on the turntable.  Been a while since we last listened to those albums.

Then....

CLASS TIME

Started a class in blueprint reading at work.  The original estimate was that it would take 7 - 10 day.  The group of us are maybe a notch above the norm.  At the rate we're going, we might be done with it in 5 days.

Now, to be fair, most of us have had similar classes before for our job.  And at one time, years ago, I taught the class.  So, at least for me, it is a refresher course to keep me up to date with changes that have been made.  And there have been a few, let me tell you.

I'm enjoying myself even if I have to stay a few hours over every day.  It's worth it.

Learning happens.

MUST BE THE WEATHER

Over the last couple days, I've been tired.  Not that I've been overworked, at least I don't think so.  Just that I come home from work and not have the energy, or the desire, to do a whole lot.

Of course, there is also a case of the sniffles going on with Dudette and myself.  Not the, "I've got a cold" type stuff.  More like the, "there is something in the air" type stuff.  Either way, between being congested, sniffling, and not having a bunch of get up and go, I don't really have a lot to talk about.

Except...

FUN BRUNCH

Ck and Chew invited Dudette and myself to brunch today at the local Granite City.  Never been there for brunch.  So we decided to go.

We've eaten at GC several times before and like both the food and the atmosphere.  And the brunch is a buffet set-up with the traditional fair of food.  The biggest exception being they will make Eggs-Benedict to order with 7 different styles to choose from.  And, they deliver HUGE cinnamon rolls to the table.

I FEEL SMARTER

I always do after watching my favorite show about police doing their jobs.  The people they have to put up with, and the goofy, stupid things these people do, amaze me.  It is still the best reality show I've ever seen.

And the best thing, I can almost feel my IQ going up while watching.  Any time you think you might not be the brightest crayon in the box, just watch a half hour segment and you'll walk away feeling like Einstein.

I'm glad I'm not in law enforcement.  I'd shoot a lot of the people shown.  Just because.

A guy at work wears a T-shirt that kind of sums it up (I think officers should be given them to wear all the time), it says, "Though it should be, STUPIDITY is NOT a crime.  You are free to go."

RESIDENT FREAK IS AT IT AGAIN

I've posted about our resident freak who lives across the street and his strange habits.  You know, watering the leaves on his trees and stuff like that.

Well, guess what?  I'm posting about him again.

He was out the other day doing his typical lawn mowing routine: edge, trim, mow, and finish up with the power blower to clear all the clippings off the drive, the sidewalk, the curb, the street, his roof...anything he could reach.
