Some of the stuff we have been talking about and working on around here is for the future. Dudette is working on pulling together a series of books to plan for retirement and "in the event of..." stuff.
You know, setting up the accounts so they are accessible by the survivor upon death, how to set up the ownerships of property so it is clear, ...
The other stuff is, getting a program started with our contractor to get some work done around the house. Replacing windows and doors and stuff over the next couple years. We need a bunch of them done, plus a slider, and replacing the bathtub in the master bath (it has a crack in it and can't be fixed). The deck could use a face lift as well.
I am waiting to hear back from the contractor. They have done work for us before and are really good. We have been very pleased with them.
The books will take a bit of steady work as well. We figure, loosely, that it may take as long as a year to work our way through all the paperwork and such to get all of our affairs in order so that if anything happened, we would be covered and not tied up in court and probate.
At least that is the plan. Get things streamlined and get the house fixed up. Couple years to pull both of them off isn't unreasonable.
Glad life gets simpler as one gets older.
The future happens.
