I'VE BEEN DISCOUNTED

Dudette and I went out for dinner tonight.  Nothing fancy, just some fast food.  She wanted chicken and I felt like fish, so we went to a place we know where two different shops share the same parking lot and we can hit both places.

She headed one way and I went the other...

CK talked to her Doc this past week about her knee still giving her issues.  She was informed that it may take up to 6 (six) months for it to get better.  (For those that know CK, when I say "she was not happy", you'll get the visual.

I'MMMMMM BAAAAACK! (the short version)

I do like most people, really.  That is why I am keeping this to the short side.  Left to my own devices, I COULD get a little verbose.

HMMM...WHERE TO START

First, I would like to say I agree with Cop Car's comment here.  I thought of the "Frankenstaph" also after reading about it.  The only thing that made me decide it is a spider bite is the fact that I noticed it shortly after it happened and got to watch it progress.  If that beasty is a staph infection, it is pretty organized, and fast.  But it did respond to the anti-biotics very well.  So, who knows.

THE BEAST

The BEAST seems to be working properly.  That is a good thing.  I had hoped to waste a lot of time sharing all the gory details tonight but it was not to be.  About the time I sat down to do some posting, I got busy with other stuff.

So, tomorrow be prepared to put up with a detailed post on the situation.

HEALTH UPDATE ON ME AND CK

CK is still on light duty while they wait to see if her knee gets any better.  She has a little over a week to go before the next Dr. appointment.  The CT scan they did showed nothing messed up internally so they think it is some kind of strain.

In the meantime, she is stuck on the "light duty" bit at work, and the double regiment of PT and home PT.

She is NOT amused.

ONE MORE ONCE

Tomorrow, after Dudette gets off work, we plan on attacking The Monster again.  Could be a long weekend for us.

Don't know how long The Monster will be down but hopefully when it gets back up it'll be all pretty and happy again.  We checked out all the possible situations that could have happened and might be the cause, but keep drawing a blank.  So we'll re-install the OS again and take things one step at a time and watch closely how it affects the system.

NOW BOTH OF US ARE STRIKEN

Not only is the computer still limping along, now I am also.  Sometime Monday (at work, we think) I was bitten by a spider on my left ankle.  Didn't even notice it until after work.  In the morning I was fine, but after work, while changing out of my work shoes, my ankle itched like crazy.  As soon as I started scratching I realized something didn't feel right.

Inside my ankle, was a nasty bite.  Cleaned it, and dressed it, and figured it would heal like usual.

THINGS THAT MAKE YOU THINK WHILE ON THE ROAD

Traveling to the Wine fest, several things that we see every trip, kind of popped out and made me wonder.  Others just happened.

At a party recently (no more details, to protect the guilty) a bunch of us were having a conversation and the news of the day was being brought up.  One young woman mentioned (the conversation had deteriorated a bit by this time...most of the group were young adults, married and single) that there was an article in the newspaper about the various "marital performance enhancement drugs" ( I won't use the name brands as we have all gotten spam telling us how to get it cheap).

"It seems," she said, "that they are linking their use to blindness now."

I mentioned, off the cuff, "Well, they have been saying for years that other things caused blindness as well.  So who knows."

She blinked twice, looked at me and said,"...
