HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year!!!

As the New Year heads in, I want to take the time to thank two people out there; Bogie and Da Goddess.  I've been blogging for a year and a half now.  Bogie got me started, and Da Goddess kept me on track until I felt comfortable.

Well, Bogie did a lot of that also.  But Da Goddess chipped in more than she really needed to.  She stayed with me until SHE knew I was on firm ground.  The two of them showed me from the start what kind of folk populated the Blogging Universe.

I still can't thank them enough.

Everyone else is up on my sidebar.  All of you are daily reads, and the original group that I kept.  I plan on adding a new section in the next day or so of other sites I hit on a regular basis.  Most are not safe for work, but I enjoy checking them out, for a variety of reasons.

But, whether you're up there or not, have a Happy New Year.  And be SAFE, I'm not done annoying you yet.

Celebrations happen!  Enjoy, Party and come home by a DD.  You're not old enough to leave yet.

THIS IS ADVERTISED...WHY?

Caught an advertisement on the TV tonight.  "Tomorrow night, at 8 o'clock, exciting episodes of "Psychic Friends".

I couldn't help but think, "If they are psychic, then they already know the time.  And what's going to be on.  How boring."

Later on, the announcer made the same comment.  "Tomorrow,..... but you already knew that, didn't you?"  end of commercial.

Freaks happen.

BOY, THEY NEEDED IT

The weather here has been fantastic.  Lows in the 30's and highs in the upper 60's.  How sweet is that for the end of December in the mid-West.  Of course they are predicting freezing rain to start our "back-to-work" week.  But I'll take this fun stuff right now.  And make the most of it.

THEY MUST THINK I'M STOOPID

Got a renewal notice from a Scientific magazine.  I enjoy the mag quite a bit but the renewal made wonder about the intellectual prowess of the mag.  Maybe they were writing for a younger audience.  An audience that doesn't catch nuance.

IF, I renewed right away, they would send me a free, 8 digit calculator.

Hmmmm.  An "8" digit calculator...last time I checked, there were "10" digits to our numeric system.

Yeah, I know...THAT'S NOT WHAT THEY MEANT!!

But, THAT'S WHAT THEY SAID!!

In bold letters, right on top, "ORDER NOW AND RECEIVE A 'FREE 8 DIGIT CALCULATOR'".

"NO, dammit!!!  I want one that has "10" digits.  From "0" to "9", or I don't want it."

They must think I'm stoopid.

Marketing happens.

CAN YOU SEE WHAT I SEE

I know the title is still Christmas'y.  But it fits.

Dudette has been having issues with her glasses lately.  It is hard for her to see through them.  And, they are a brand new script.

A couple weeks back I was cleaning her glasses for her and when I looked through them checking for smudges, I noticed they are ALL scratched up.  This confused both of us as we always get "scratch-guard" on our lenses.

HOLIDAY TIME OFF

Here it is, the first week-day of my Holiday shutdown and I spent it working on my office.  I try to give a thorough cleaning at least twice a year (that includes moving stuff and cleaning out drawers and stuff).  The place looks pretty good now.

I have more stuff planned for tomorrow.  Including a service call from the cable guy.  Our remote is getting touchy, you have to grind the volume button to get it to work.  And sometimes it doesn't know if it needs to operate the TV or the cable box.  Hopefully they have another remote like the old one, otherwise we may end up getting a whole new box and having to learn a new 'mote.  I guess it could be worse.

Holidays happen.

BAD WATER RISING

Read that Buffy has some relatives over in Thailand.  With the Tsunami's that hit, she is worried about them and has no way of knowing if they are safe and sound.  That can be nerve wracking.

Go give her some support.

Happy Heathen's mother lives in Guam and I checked with her to make sure the "home front" was OK.  I was glad to hear her mom is currently in Japan and out of harms way.

Bad things happen.  (sometimes, to good people)

CHRISTMAS DAY

It is Christmas morning and it just "ain't right".  With Chew coming over this morning, we are all up and dressed.

That's just WRONG!!

Tomorrow we will enjoy celebrating Christmas with Chew at the house for the opening of presents.  He and CK have a busy day scheduled.

BANK RUN

Stopped at the bank after work yesterday.  I just had to make a small deposit into savings.  Not a big deal, right?
