NEW LINE UPDATE

It has been 3 days with the new setup, and we haven't had a chance to really get into it yet.

The first day was pure chaos and confusion. That is to be expected. By the end of the day, we were starting to "feel" the direction we needed to aim the thing.

On tuesday, absenteeism moved somany people around, and a whole different group were now scratching their heads. Didn't do any good as they would all be moved back to their original positions at the end of the day.

Day three, crew back together, working on tuning the setup again. Ran out of parts, had a meeting to buy some time, ran stop and go the rest of the day.

Hard to have a "shake out" run when the ship stays in port.

We'll keep working on it. I have informed the "powers that be" that I wouldn't make, or give an opinion until we burn a "FULL" week doing this thing at capacity. That is the only way to tell if it will work.

And I will be gone Friday. So another day is shot at getting it ironed out.

Patience people, patience.

HOUSE PAINTING DONE AND OTHER NONSENSE

The painters finished the house on Monday. They would have had it done sooner but the weather wouldn't cooperate. Looks good. Glad "I" didn't have to paint it.

Friday, Dudette, HH and I plan on going to Cop Car's retirement. Yup, she's packing it in.

Though I don't expect her to stay idle for too long. I figure she'll take over some other company just to keep herself occupied. But I have heard (and it's a secret, so don't tell) that one of OUR fellow bloggers is thinking about talking her into blogging.

Now THAT would be a blog worth reading. So much to say, and so little time.

Gotta start doing something with the lawn. Darn dandilions (sp) are taking over. Looks like we are running a ping-pong ball farm with all of the puffballs standing tall and proud. Not bad if you make dandilion wine, but we don't.

WINEFEST UPDATE

Well, I have a little more information on the Winefest:

From the auction, they netted almost $94,000. Not bad for pawning off a dog for $2,600.

Approx. 1951+ people attended the event, (that includes vendors and volunteers...they are allowed to bid in the auctions, both silent and live, so they count.)

Still waiting for the FINAL numbers so I can WOW you.

Charity happens.

Whew! That new set up is a doozy. A little more than confusing.

I'll have to tell you more tomorrow.

FUNNY STORY sort of

A person Dudette knows through work was visiting New York on business recently. This lady does this on a regular basis. This time she told Dudette how she got to be a guest of the NYPD for an hour and a half.

On her latest expedition, when leaving wherever it is she goes, instead of turning one way, she turned the other. She has been there many times and decided to go sightseeing. After driving around for a while, she found a nice looking little bar and stopped in.

WINEFEST UPDATE

In my last post about the Winefest being over, I mentioned a black lab that sold for $1600 at an auction.

I was corrected today. Some other people thought the winning bid was $2600.

Either way, WOW.

I'LL TRY HARDER

The past couple weeks have been hectic to say the least. Usually I post at least a couple times a week, but I haven't been able to. I hope to get this resolved in the near future.

No promises though. I was informed Thursday at work, that they are rearranging the line I work on. It will combine parts of two positions, into a different two positions setup.

Currently we have two positions that do BOTH brazing and assembly work. The new setup will have ONE person doing all the brazing, and the other doing ALL the assembly work. Sounds simple. But you would have to see it to understand it. NOT...THAT...SIMPLE.

But I'm game (BANG) (old joke). I'm willing to give it a whirl. It will probably take a little bit to get used to, but "I" think it is do-able. This starts tomorrow, providing our maintenance crew got all the work done over the weekend. So it will be, "in to work early in the morning", so I can wrap my mind around the new setup.

If I can visualize it, then I ought to be able to do it.

"I'm psyched. Come on coach, put me in."

Changes happen.

WINEFEST OVER

The Winefest went well, in my opinion. The crowds seemed to be of good size, and the bidding at the auction was lively. It won't be until later in the week before we find out how much was taken in by the event. I think it should be a good amount.

So far, this event has raised over a million dollars for charity in its first 8 years. The other events (combined - they're WAY smaller venues) have matched this amount. Not bad for a small yearly event. And it is for a good cause.

PAINTING, FINALLY

After waiting for the weather to get nice enough, the painters have started on the house.

So far today, they have started with the cutting out of old caulk in preperation for the new stuff. Priming is also going on to all the nail heads and bare wood.

They are storing a lot of the supplies in the garage. Not a space problem, but man does it stink. I had forgotten how nasty all the paint and supplies smell. Not bad in an open area, kind of sweet. But in a closed garage! It'll make your eyes water and your nose run. Not too bad aster a while. Your get kinda ust to't. bu frash ayre givs yu a hedake later on.

Yeah...the paint stinks. But it's GOOD stuff. If you're into huffing.

As luck would have it though, today was beautiful, cool, but not cold, partly cloudy, light breeze, etc. And tonight ...RAIN. Tomorrow...RAIN. Next day...MAYBE rain.

Why is it, painting is like washing the car. You do it, and it rains.

I'll keep you posted on this, it ought to be interesting. I'm half tempted to PUSH the truck out of the garage before starting it in the morning. That and leave the doors open for a few minutes to air it out.
