As I mentioned in the last post DSL PROMO , the cost of the "high end" DSL would be about the same cost of our current cable hook up.
Well, the other shoe dropped. I got a promo for the "premier" version of the cable service. It boasts speeds of 4 mbs as compared to the DSL, which was promising 1.5 - 3.0 mbs.
OKAY! Sounds like a winner to me. KEWL!
Then I saw the price. It would be almost TWICE the current cost of the cable hook up. That makes the DSL almost less than half the cost cable wants. And it would still be less than the current cost.
When DSL gets its act together in our area, I am definitely going to give them a call and see what they have to say.
Bargains (and competition) happen.
I love our DSL. I actually prefer it. Think about it. Cable runs to everyone's house. Phone lines are separated off and run to each individual house. So when you get home and get online with DSL, then your neighbor comes home and gets online it does't slow your connection. Cable usually does. I also feel more secure. I've heard of people being able to read their neighbors mail when using cable. No thanks.. don't want them reading mine.

I've used both DSL and Cable. Cable is worth every penny.

We're close to signing up for cable. We have about the same situation you have WichiDude, concerning the DSL line. I've seen ads everywhee for SBC Yahoo DSL, but we're about 300 feet too far away from a DSL center. The speeds wouldn't be any faster than our regular phone line. We already have digital cable TV so a cable hookup for the computer seems the best way for us to go.
