In the recent round of lost relatives, sympathies go out to Chew and his family. Chews' grandfather passed away last Saturday.
This was not totally unexpected. Sooner than expected, but not by much. His grandfather had been in declining health for a while. And recently, the decline accelerated.
There was a service on Tuesday, with the actual funeral on Wednesday. A majority of the family went to the Service.
There was a shared moment of mirth though. Dudette and I committed to attending the service Tuesday evening. Not only as extended family, but for support to Chew, CK, and the rest of Chews' immediate (local) family. And we didn't want to get sidetracked or be late.
I had my own prods to make sure I was on schedule. As did Dudette. And that is where the much needed mirth came in.
Dudette has an appointment calendar that is used to coordinate, organize, and generally keep every one on track and notified at work of what is happening at all times. It is used by the necessary groups to see what is happening, with/by whom, and where projects are at. Very nice system. So, when an appointment, meeting, or happening is entered, all can see what everyone's schedule looks like.
And Tuesday, Dudette had the service entered so everyone knew she would be gone by a certain time, and not available.
It also allowed everyone to give her a bad time.
Since she couldn't remember Richard's last name, she used his first...as everyone in the family knew him by. And this led to the following event notation in "her" calendar for 6:00 pm:
"6:00 - 'Dick viewing'"
Gotta love HR for that entry.
Some things are just meant to be shared.
Sharing happens.
I can imagine the fun they had with that!

Even Chew's mother (daughter of the deceased) got a good laugh.
